Passion.

There are few things that make me as happy as taking my 2 yr old up to Snowbird, and teaching her how to ski, but the enjoyment of teaming up with smart people to solve everyday people’s problems through software is comparable.

My four loves in my life are Family, Skiing, Boating, and Product.

I’m not like most. It is rare that you will find me on the fence on about any subject. But don’t be mistaken, I can be easily swayed. I take the phrase “strong opinions, loosely held” very seriously.

Data Matters.

In Utah, there are (too) many B2B businesses, and from this comes Product Managers with little experience or understanding around analytics or testing. I pride myself on being proficient in Google, Adobe, and Heap Analytics, with the later being my preference. Understanding how the platform is being used is critical to compliment with the qualitative data that comes from user research to understand and prioritize which problems need solving.

On top of that, it is critical in a B2C space, to have a mindset of testing to learn and not just the focus on being right. Much of the greatest successes in my career came from the third or fourth iteration of a solution, and not the first. Creating a culture to try and test everything is critical and also creates a lot of value to the product team to know the impact that they are making on the business and to understand if they are reaching their OKRs.

Continous Progression.

From MBA, the most unexpected lesson I learned was that life’s better when you are learning. Since graduating, I’m constantly looking for ways to improve and things to learn, not just professionally. From 3d printing, home repairs, and auto repair to data science, react native, and product-driven methodologies, I enjoy and understand that I’m happy when I feel like I’m growing and more able to contribute.
